Nancy Cartwright, the voice of spikey-haired 10-year-old Bart Simpson, amongst others, was bestowed the Honorary Doctorate of Communications for her tremendous achievements in entertainment and her outstanding philanthropic and civic contributions. A native of Kettering, Ohio, Nancy returned to Ohio University in Athens, Ohio this past weekend, where she began her collegiate career. The university’s Convocation Center was completely sold-out to the 14,000 attendees who were there to hear her commencement speech and witness her receiving her Honorary Doctorate. In 2005, Nancy “paid it forward” by establishing a perpetual scholarship so the students of her high school, Kettering Fairmont, could attend Ohio U.
