OMYGOD—400 episodes already!! It seems to me that it was just yesterday that we were announced on the Fox line-up as having our own half-hour show!

Fox threw us a big bash on the lot on New York Street, famous for the set of Hello, Dolly! About 1,000 peeps attended, mostly artists and staff. There were plenty of media there and I spent about 1 1/2 hours doing tons of interviews for the promotion of our record-breaking 400th.

The only other show that tops ours is Gunsmoke. It was on the air from 1955-1975.

The Simpsons first aired in 1990 as a sitcom; however we made our television debut on The Tracey Ullman Show back in 1987, making it a 20-year-run.

My vision is to see that we do no less than 500! Fox will throw us another party—bigger balloons, better food.

Streetwise Contest – 21. March, 2007

I recently joined members of the North Valley Chamber of Commerce in the annual Installation Luncheon at the Porter Valley Country Club. Wayne Adelstein, President of our local Chamber of Commerce, welcomed me back as Honorary Mayor. I have “worn the honorary mayor’s hat” for a couple years now and am truly grateful to wear it for my third year. (Omygosh-where-did-the-time-go?) (more…)

An NBA All-Star Weekend – 10. March, 2007

Nancy spent the weekend of February 18th in the city of sin. No she wasn’t gambling away her savings. She was there to see the high-flying, high-scoring NBA All-Star weekend. Saturday was the high-flying dunk contest. Congrats to the Celtic Gerald Green who took home the crown with the day’s only perfect scoring dunk; a windmill over a table.

While in Vegas, she met with friend and professional poker player Chris “Jesus” Ferguson and others for a taste of the high-roller’s life. It wasn’t quite enough to lure her over to the life of a pro poker player, but was the proverbial icing on the cake of an already fun-filled weekend.

Honorary Mayor is Honorary Chair – 10. March, 2007

Nancy, North San Fernando Valley Honorary Mayor, will kick off the summer as the Honorary Chairperson for the 25th Annual Salute to Recreation Family Festival. The event, which will be held from June 1st to the 3rd, highlights the variety of cultural and recreational activities available to the residents of the San Fernando Valley.

The three day event will feature 4 stages with live entertainment, international food booths, a marketplace, a children’s area, carnival rides and games and much more. The highlight of the weekend will be the Saturday night fireworks extravaganza sponsored by the Northridge East Neighborhood Council.

If you are in the area and in the mood for great food and great fun, join Nancy and hundreds of others in a celebration of recreational activity and cultural diversity.

Mayor Cartwright Version 2.0 Installed – 10. March, 2007

image-for-Article-3On Friday, March 2nd, the power houses of the San Fernando Valley got together at the Odyssey Restaurant in Porter Ranch for the annual installation of the North Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce Board Members. Also on their agenda for the afternoon was re-installing Ms. Cartwright as the Honorary Mayor of the North Valley.

Again she raised her right hand and swore to serve her home city of Northridge and the surrounding communities. Conducting the mostly-official swearing in was County Supervisor Zev Yarofslavsky. Also present for the event were Councilman Greig Smith and keynote speaker Congressman Brad Sherman.

Wayne Adelstein, Chamber President, read the long list of causes that Nancy has supported in the past two years. These included the Devonshire PALS, Valley Interfaith Council, Parks and Rec and the San Fernando Valley Jaycees. He ended by calling her the “Citizen of the Year.”

Our top hat is off to Honorary Mayor Cartwright!
