Whether you define success as the amount of money raised or the amount of fun had by the attendees, the Happy House Poker Tournament this Saturday, October 18th, was a big win. The afternoon kicked off with Nancy talking about Happy House, its purpose and what we have been doing in our community.

Then there was a big “shuffle up and deal” and the tournament was underway. The poker action was fierce, and it was only intensified by the BBQ going on all around it. Children were running all over the place and guests were talking and laughing and eating dishes brought by other guests.

When the dust settled, the champion was our very own Co-Executive Director Peter Kjenaas, but the winner was Happy House. Rounding out the top five for the tournament were Richard McCobb, Steve Garza, Glen Poole and Eric Mellinger, but we would like to extend a very hearty “Thank You” to everyone who attended, played, ate and contributed to a great cause.
