There are many charity poker tournaments these days, but only a few of them would qualify as events. Friday at the Venetian, about 275 generous poker players saddled up to play some poker and help a great cause at the second annual Jennifer Harman Nevada SPCA Fundraiser.

The room was a virtual “who’s who” of poker, as celebrity poker players gathered to help out animals in need. Brunson, Ivey, Negreanu, Greenstein, Hachem, Lederer, and dozens of poker’s brightest stars sat down to rebuy until they could rebuy no more, and raise some money while re-raising each other. You win some you lose some – 16. January, 2008

It’s award season again. And with The Simpsons finally being on both television and on the big screen, there are plenty of chances for the yellow kids to take home some gold.

At the 34th Annual People’s Choice Awards, held Tuesday January 8th at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, The Simpsons was nominated for and took home the award for top animated TV comedy.

Congratulations to everyone involved in making the show a continued television icon and industry success.

On the same night, at the 13th Annual Critic’s Choice awards, The Simpsons Movie was nominated for Best Animated Feature and was up against some stiff competition. In the end, Ratatouille won out.

A very special congratulations to Brad Bird and Pixar on all of their success. And if you are looking for any voices on your next feature film…

Latest Seminar a Big Hit – 5. January, 2008

January 5th, 2008, The Way to Happiness Foundation rang in the New Year by hosting a workshop designed to help people better understand the precepts in The Way to Happiness booklet.

Workshop1_05_08Nancy Cartwright, Honorary Mayor of the North valley and international spokesperson for The Way to Happiness, recently ended 2007 by sending out over a million booklets to households in the greater San Fernando Valley. The booklets were a huge hit and this seminar was just the thing to follow up the distribution of the books.

Led by Richard Stewart, the interactive workshop got a little personal when people talked about moments when they were most happy; it was moving and the joy was contagious.

By the end, members of the audience were getting more booklets to give to their neighbors, asking about places they could volunteer and inquiring about more workshops that they, and their loved ones, could attend.

Thanks to all who made the workshop a great success, including those who were in attendance. Best wishes and Happy New Year.
