The word is in; The Simpsons has been picked up for its 21st season! This breaks the tie with Gunsmoke for the longest-running  show in television’s history. It will increase The Simpsons lead for longest running comedy series by episode over The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet, adding 22 episodes to the already remarkable record of 449 episodes, boosting its total at the end of the new season to an astounding 471 episodes.
