Welcome to Nancyland! – April 4th, 2009

To those dedicated fans who continue to return to my site, “Nice seein’ ya!” and to the new fans who are “first time visitors”—Welcome to Nancyland!

I like writing a new message every month to keep everyone up-to-date about what is happening in my world.  The media is pretty good about “reporting” what they think is “real” but the truth is that this really is my own site—I write many of the articles and if I don’t write them, one of my staff does and then it is approved by me.  So I just wanted you to know that this is “The Official Nancy Cartwright Site” and I am the source of this information.  Thankyouverymuch.

We have tons of projects at various stages of development, soon to be released and/or demonstrated in the community; but first a little re-cap of my most current “escapades.”

I just returned from a fast and furious trip to Ireland—Dublin to be exact.  I went as a PR representative for The Simpsons.  This was my third trip to the Celtic Tiger and I still found it a most warm and appreciative community of dedicated Simpsons fans.  Exec producers, Jim Brooks and Al Jean were also there to promote the first episode of the show to premier outside the US.  We attended a couple screenings and the crowds took to the show in their own inimitable Irish style.  The first screening was with an audience of children and most notably an invited group of kids who were there on behalf of a local hospital.  They were truly delighted to be a part of the event and that was one of the highlights of the trip for me.  Answering their questions, giving them hugs and taking photos meant the world to these kids and I am not sure who benefited from it more.  Truly lovely.

We also got to view the St. Paddy’s parade in a special VIP section of the route.  I sat 5 seats away from Irish President, Mary McAleese.  That was pretty interesting.  She was very kind and gave me a royal handshake.  I noticed that she had no security around her.   I take that as a good thing.  The most threatening behavior that I saw was the bevy of paparazzi.  I think there were 4…could have been 5.  And they apologized when I couldn’t do a photo for them.  Very un-American.  LOL.

Another one of the highlights was being a presenter at the Meteor Awards.  That was so fun.  I presented with local talent, Lucy Kennedy.  She was totally gracious and willing to be put on the spot by my asking her, “Who the hell are you?”  The screaming 15-year-olds really loved it.

After the trip, I flew home and got right back into the swing of things.  Back to The Simpsons, working on a “make-over” of this website—time to update the look of it; write a couple articles for some columns I do; take a writing seminar with Blake Snyder (www.blakesnyder.com—he is an incredible writer/teacher); and also learn how to play poker so I can support others in their charity events.

Just a few things on the horizon.

See you then,
Nancy
