DEVONSHIRE PALS AWARDS – December 10th, 2009

On December 9th, Lorraine New, President of the Devonshire Pals in Northridge, CA, presided once again over the PALS annual awards ceremony but for the first time in their new home, the Grieg Smith Devonshire PALS Youth Center.

The doors to the new youth center have only been open for just over one month but are already seeing more and more children come through the doors to participate in the many after-school program.

PALS honored all those who contributed to the extraordinary effort to get the building built and up and running.  Among many other worthy recipients, Greg Baker and Stan Bryant, co-chairs of the capital campaign, each received honors as did Sally Barnes for her super success with the annual Golf Tourney.

Nancy received, along with Dick Ashnault and Stan Bryant, the President’s Award for service above and beyond.  This unexpected honor followed recognitions for her and her staff’s contributions to PALS through the annual Monte Carlo for PALS fundraiser.

One sad note is that Lorraine, who received high honors from Councilman Smith’s office, has stepped down as President but her shoes will be ably filled by Victoria Bourdas, incoming President and a champion for kids in her own right.

Congratulations Lorraine for achieving this feat and for all you do for the children of the San Fernando Valley.
