Nancy was invited to her alma mater this past weekend to celebrate her relationship with Ohio University, the Scripps College of Communication and the National Forensics Association, an organization near and dear to her heart. April 19th marked the finale of the 40th Annual National Forensics Association Tournament. (The word forensic is an adjective meaning “of public debate or argument.”)
Nancy’s participation with her high school and Ohio University’s forensics teams focused on individual events such as Humorous Interpretation, Dramatic Duo, After-Dinner Speaking , Prose and Poetry and Extemporaneous Speaking. In her keynote speech, she encouraged the crowd of nearly 1,000 that “no matter what career path you choose, even if it means being a stay-at-home-mom-or-dad, your public speaking skills are crucial to your being able to get along in life. My voice-over career started with this organization and I am honored that we are all in the same fraternity.” This was met with a standing ovation as she delivered the voice of Chuckie from the Rugrats.
Nancy was honored to receive the 2010 Ohio Communication Hall of Fame Award, the highest honor bestowed by the Scripps College of Communication In addition, she was able to participate in panel discussions on pitching shows to executives as well as tour the amazing facilities at Ohio University. It truly was a remarkable weekend, made even more so by the fact that OU placed fourth in the prestigious event—the first time they have cracked the “Top 5” in 30 years!
The Speaking Bobcats were led by Pentathlon National Champion, Dan Glaser, who had 3 second place finishes and 1 first place finish in Poetry Interpretation.
Congratulations to Dan the entire Bobcat team on a great tournament and a wonderful season. Go Bobcats and Bobkitties!
