Nancy dancing at the Valley Cultural Center fundraiserOne of my dreams is to be a contestant on Dancing With The Stars.  You shoulda seen my face last Friday…on stage…surrounded by hundreds of people…in my glorious ballroom gown…done up like a showgirl on opening night!!

Okay, so it wasn’t the hit ABC television show, but rather a fundraiser for The Valley Cultural Center!  Dancing with our Valley Stars.  I competed with 4 other community leaders of the San Fernando Valley to raise funds for this amazing program that provides movies in the park, music, dance and visual arts programs for kids and seniors alike. What Happens in Vegas… – 21. March, 2010

While most of us were obsessed with Super Bowl weekend, Nancy played Texas Hold ‘Em with celebrities including Lou Diamond Phillips, Robert Iler (The Sopranos), Jesse Metcalfe (Desperate Housewives), Shaun Sipes (Melrose Place), Nicholas Gonzalez (Mental), Playboy Playmates Sara Underwood, Jessica Burciaga and Jessa Lynn Hinton, Dennis Haskins (Saved by the Bell), Cheryl Hines (Curb your Enthusiasm), Tiffany Michelle and Maria Ho (The Amazing Race) and more. The occasion was the Trash Talk Championship of the World poker tournament benefiting the Sharon Osbourne Colon Cancer Program at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. It took place at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

Cartwright Entertainment was one of the sponsors of the no limit Hold ‘Em charity poker tournament, which raised more than $30,000 for the Colon Cancer Program. Nancy played well but Trishelle Cannatella of Real World Las Vegas was the deserving champion.

Make A Wish – 6. April, 2005

nancy_makeawishThe Los Angeles Chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation is one of Nancy’s pet benefits. She has been called upon many times to help make “final wishes” come true by meeting Bart. In order to help finance these wishes, there was a wine tasting/auction at the Santa Monica Airport in one of the hangers. Literally thousands show up every year for this enormous extravaganza. Nancy donated a “Bart Basket” complete with t-shirts, dolls, DVDs, a signed script and an invitation for the donor plus guest to attend a table reading of “The Simpsons.” Nancy was surprised by being introduced in the audience and simply stated just as Bart might say, “Dig deep, people!” The quip worked because this prize garnered a hefty $2,000 for the foundation, all in support of helping some kids’ dreams come true during such stressful times in their young lives.
