The Valley Economic Alliance has announced the honorees of its “Valley of the Stars” awards, which recognize individuals, businesses and organizations that have made substantial contributions to the San Fernando Valley.
The organization offers the awards in the areas of arts and entertainment, business and education, according to a statement released by the organization. The winners are also required to have contributed to the growth and vitality of the San Fernando Valley region. (more…)
Nancy was invited to her alma mater this past weekend to celebrate her relationship with Ohio University, the Scripps College of Communication and the National Forensics Association, an organization near and dear to her heart. April 19th marked the finale of the 40th Annual National Forensics Association Tournament. (The word forensic is an adjective meaning “of public debate or argument.”) (more…)
On April 13th, Nancy attended the Fourth Annual Jennifer Harman Charity Poker Tournament benefitting the Nevada Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals No Kill Shelter. Nancy and the President of her company Peter Kjenaas played. Holly Madison, Lou Diamond Phillips, Louie Anderson, Doyle Brunson, Carrot Top, Jennifer Tilly and many other celebrities and poker pros were there supporting this great charity.
The grand prize was a $10,000 World Series of Poker Main Event seat, and while Nancy didn’t take home the top prize, she did outlast Peter and has retained her office bragging rights for at least another few months. The International Family Film Festival was held from March 10-14 at the Raleigh Studios in Hollywood, California. The four-day-event premiered 67 films including 19 International films, 20 Student Films from professional Film Schools and over 16 Finalist screenplays from the US, Canada, Turkey and China.
Who better to MC the awards ceremony than our very own spiky-headed ten-year-old Nancy Cartwright. It was a great way to cap off an amazing and artistic four days. Thanks to everyone at IFFF and all of those who participated.
Nancy is going back to her roots this April as a guest judge in the National Forensics Tournament. The forensics group at Ohio University is where Nancy honed her public speaking skills before heading out to sunny California.
From April 17th to April 20th, she will be right back where it all began to attend a forensics alumni luncheon and then serve as a guest judge in the national tournament. Nancy has long been heavily involved at her alma mater but working closely with the program that helped to shape her career is truly special.
