At the 500th Episode celebrationHow exciting! 500 episodes…It’s hard to believe. What is even more mind blowing is that 100 of our biggest fans vied for the right to participate in an effort to break the Guinness Book of World Records by watching over 84 consecutive hours of the show. Fox set up a huge tent the Hollywood & Highland complex with couches and a huge screen. The viewers could not take their eyes off the screen (there are spotters who have spotters to check on them) and they only get a 10 minute break every two hours! Wow! That’s dedication. Of course, there was a prize. Congratulations to Jeremiah Franco and Carin Shreve. They received $10,500 each and co-share the new Guinness World Record at 86 hours and 37 minutes. Not bad for a few days “work.”

Yeardley Smith and Al Jean were also in attendance to kick off the event. We all wished them good luck and I couldn’t help but wonder if anyone had lost sleep the night before—because they were so excited to take part in the “no-sleeping allowed” marathon! We posed for photos, then were given supersize remote controls to start the viewing. It was really a blast! I can’t believe two people made it. What a great event!
