In News, The Simpsons

I was honored to be a part of the celebration for the unveiling of Matt Groening’s well-deserved star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. What a great Valentine’s Day — and just one day before his birthday.

Hank Azaria, Yeardley Smith and I were on hand to share the experience with Matt and to each say a few words showing him our appreciation for the contribution he has made to the world and, on a smaller scale, to each of our lives. I also let him know how grateful I am that he has afforded me the ability to help others, not just financially, also by allowing me the time to devote to the causes I am so committed to—helping at-risk kids, encouraging literacy and good values through my Happy House Good Choices program.

It is always nice to see the fan support for everything we do and this week really demo stated that, from the 500th show celebrations to this event.

Matt’s star is aptly placed just four stars from The Simpsons star and right near those of fellow animation icons Walt Disney and Charles Schultz. If you want to see it, it’s on Hollywood Boulevard and Sycamore Street.

Thanks to Matt, Fox, all of the members of The Simpsons family and the fans who watch it every week and support us, for 500 episodes (Yikes!!!). I hope I can stay 10 forever!
