April 19, 1987 was the first appearance of The Simpsons on The Tracy Ulman Show. Back then the show was what was called an intersitial program, “short television programming which is often shown between movies or other events.”

As we all know, The Simpsons is now the longest running scripted series in the history of television, entering its 29th season of production. And Bart is still 10!
